The primary aim of the Pharmacy Services Program is to prepare medications that need to be compounded under the supervision of a pharmacist and to assist patients visiting the pharmacy with the sale and presentation of all kinds of medicines and medical supplies. Graduates of this program are expected to become knowledgeable, professionally equipped technicians who can work in public and private healthcare institutions, public and private pharmacies, as well as in jobs related to the pharmaceutical industry, while also keeping up with innovations in the field. Individuals interested in this program should have an interest in fundamental sciences such as physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as in health sciences.

1. Theoretical Education:

The fundamental theoretical knowledge of the profession, including pharmacology, drug information, and chemistry, is taught in a classroom setting.

Lessons are designed with an interdisciplinary learning approach as specified in TYYÇ.

2. Practical Education:

Laboratories: These are places where students learn drug preparation, drug formulations, and basic laboratory techniques.

3. Internship and Workplace Training:

Students gain experience in real pharmacy environments, acquiring practical knowledge and skills as outlined in TYYÇ. This includes customer service, prescription preparation, stock management, and drug information.

4. Library and Resources:

Professional books, journals, and online resources support students in their learning process.

5. Digital Platforms:

Online learning tools (LMS) help students develop independent learning skills.

6. Workshops and Seminars:

Experts organize seminars and workshops on innovations in the pharmaceutical sector and professional development to support the learning process.

• Can describe the effects, side effects, purposes, and interactions of drugs.
• Can apply drug preparation and dosing processes.
• Accurately reads prescriptions and carries out drug preparation and delivery processes.
• Understands and applies the properties of chemical substances and their relationships with biological processes.
• Can prepare, store, and manage drug stock under appropriate conditions.
• Works in compliance with hygiene and sterilization rules.
• Effectively performs tasks such as stock tracking, product placement, and shelf organization.
• Can provide information to patients about drug usage, dosage, and possible side effects.
• Has knowledge of drug licensing, pharmaceutical laws, and regulations.
• Understands and adheres to patient confidentiality, safety, and ethical rules.
• Establishes effective communication with patients to understand their needs and provide assistance.
• Works efficiently within a pharmacy team through collaboration.
• Develops problem-solving skills for patient complaints and potential prescription-related issues.
• Can use computer software for prescription entry, stock management, and patient information tracking.
• Correctly operates basic laboratory devices and in-pharmacy equipment.
• Gains the ability to observe and report drug safety and potential side effects.
• Supports awareness campaigns and educational initiatives to promote health consciousness

Can possess advanced-level competencies in the following areas:

• Understands the mechanisms of action, uses, and storage conditions of drugs. Additionally, applies the necessary technical knowledge for the accurate and safe preparation and administration of medications.
• Maintains proper inventory of medications in pharmacies, tracks expiration dates, and ensures the systematic management of drug stocks
• Has knowledge and skills in drug preparation and the formulation of various pharmaceutical products (e.g., creams, lotions, syrups).
• Must be knowledgeable about pharmaceutical laws and ethical regulations related to healthcare services.
• Has knowledge of software and computer applications used for pharmacy management and patient tracking.

Evaluation of Success:

a) The status of students' education is monitored through the University Student Information System (OBS).

b) Success in a course is determined by the course grade. The course success grade is obtained by evaluating the success in the exams, practice, homework, project, project, attendance, laboratory and similar in-semester studies and the final exam together.

c) The success grade of a course is obtained by taking the percentage of the final exam grade, provided that the grade obtained as a result of in-semester exams and measurement systems is not less than 40% and not more than 60%.

d) The instructor of the course is obliged to announce to the students at the beginning of the semester; the content of the course, all kinds of measurement types that will be the basis for calculating the success grade.

e) Students are required to retake the failed compulsory or elective courses. However, if these courses are removed from the program, the relevant department/program determines which course to take.

f) The student must take the failed course with priority.

g) In the semester in which the student repeats the failed course, the attendance requirement for that course is not required.

Success grade:

Grades and coefficients are evaluated as indicated below.

a) Grades are given out of 100.

b) Courses with letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB, CC are considered successful.

c) Courses with DD and DC letter grades are considered successful if the GPA is 2.00 and above (conditional pass) in Associate Degree programs.

d) Courses with a letter grade of FF are considered unsuccessful in all programs.

e) B and K grades are not included in grade point average calculations.

Grade Point Average:

The grade determined by dividing the sum of the coefficient of the success grade of the courses taken in a semester by the sum of the separate products of the ECTS values of those courses by the sum of the ECTS values of those courses is called Semester Weighted Grade Point Average (WGPA). The division is calculated by taking two digits after the comma and rounding to the upper value. The grade calculated by applying it to all courses taken is called the General Weighted Average (GANO).

The Pharmacy Services Program admits students through the Central Placement process conducted by ÖSYM, based on the TYT score type results determined by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Graduates of this program can apply to undergraduate programs through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM, they can transfer to university departments such as Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Applied Chemistry.

The qualification is permanently valid.
