The main aim of the Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Programme is to train qualified and expert individuals who can provide care and rehabilitation services to improve the quality of life of disabled individuals. The programme aims to provide the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to increase the level of independence of disabled individuals, to provide special care services for their individual needs and to improve their quality of life.

Programme Objectives:

- Understands the basic characteristics and needs of individuals with disabilities,

- To be able to provide care and rehabilitation services within the scope of health services needed by disabled individuals,

- To be able to fulfil the professional requirements of the profession in accordance with the ethical and legal framework, while respecting social values and having compassionate personality traits,

- Open to continuous development by adopting the principle of lifelong learning,

to raise individuals.

Education and training is carried out in the form of formal education and face-to-face. Apart from this, conferences, panels and symposiums that are thought to contribute to students are organised and students are encouraged to participate in such activities. In addition, they receive the Ministry of National Education and Çorum Municipality's official institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Education and Corum Municipality, Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Practices I-II course within the scope of the application of theoretical knowledge by making the application area.

•  Have basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the care and rehabilitation of the disabled.
•  To have social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the stages of collecting, applying and announcing the results of the data related to the field.
•  Using the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the field, to interpret and evaluate data, to identify problems, to analyse, to have the ability to develop solutions based on evidence.
•  Can take responsibility as a team member to solve complex and unforeseen problems encountered in applications related to the field.
• - Follows the practices related to the rights of the disabled.
•  Supports the determination of educational needs of disabled people.
•  Participate in professional in-service activities in Turkey and in the world, follow technological developments, have knowledge, experience and application skills.
•  Recognises the relationship between society, family and disability, organises activities with family participation.
•  Prepares activities suitable for cognitive, affective, psychomotor development of disabled people.
•  Takes precautions regarding health and occupational safety in the working environment.
•  Under the supervision of an expert, they can carry out the applications recommended by professionals in the fields that provide the necessary care and improvement of living conditions for people with disabilities.
•  Can be an appropriate role model that can contribute to improving the quality of education and life of people with disabilities.
•  Follows the nutrition and rehabilitation programmes of disabled people.
•  Has lifelong learning awareness.

Alumni possesses the following key competences at an advanced level;

•  Competence to have basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the care and rehabilitation of disabled individuals.
• Competence of interpreting data related to the field, identifying and analysing problems and developing evidence-based solutions.
•  Competence to fulfil professional responsibilities by acting in accordance with scientific, social and ethical values.
•  Competence to take responsibility effectively as a team member in solving complex problems.
•  Competence to follow the rights of disabled people and provide support in determining the educational needs of disabled individuals.
•  Competence to participate in professional in-service activities, to follow and apply technological developments.
•  Competence to take health and safety precautions in the working environment.
•  Competence of being open to continuous development and having lifelong learning awareness.

In line with the student-centered education approach, students are evaluated using alternative assessment and evaluation tools and methods that show their progress during the course and their achievement of the outcomes at the end of the course. In the measurement and evaluation processes, a competency-based approach has been adopted along with a student-centered approach. Measurement and evaluation processes are carried out in accordance with the Hitit University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations, Hitit University Regulations / Directive on the Procedures and Principles for the Conduct of Distance Education Courses and Examinations.

The student's success status for a course is determined by the course success grade. The principles of calculating the success grade according to the absolute and / or relative evaluation system and the grading system principles of the exams applied at the University are regulated by the Senate.

In the calculation of the success grades, the letter grades and coefficients specified below are used.

To ensure the quality of higher education programs:

The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and supervising education, teaching, and other activities in higher education institutions.

Each year, The Council of Higher Education (CoHE)  publishes "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" for higher education institutions, based on criteria set by CoHE. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by CoHE.

CoHE also annually publishes the "Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report," which includes academic, administrative, and financial data of foundation higher education institutions. These reports, containing quantitative and qualitative evaluations, are shared with the public by CoHE. Quality assurance for undergraduate programs in higher education is ensured according to the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Development and Approval of Teaching Programs:

   1.1. The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the establishment of associate degree departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curricula of associate degree programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes they aim to impart to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the fundamental principles established by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE).

   1.3. After acceptance by the relevant Deans' Council, the curriculum of the National Core Education Programs is implemented by higher education institutions with CoHE’s approval.

2. Assessment-Evaluation: The methods for assessing and evaluating the learning outcomes that each associate degree program aims to impart to students are carried out in accordance with the education, training, and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions, in line with the fundamental principles established by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE).

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs receive a bachelor's degree upon successfully completing the required course credits and other obligations as determined by the higher education institutions.

4. Internal Evaluation-External Evaluation: Higher education institutions enter "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) at the beginning of each year. THEQC shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" it prepares regarding the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. Additionally, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation organizations authorized or recognized by THEQC also demonstrate that the programs meet quality assurance standards. THEQC conducts regular review activities related to competencies determined by its regulations.

Our department has been accredited by MEDEK on 1st January 2025 with the examinations and evaluations it has been subjected to as a result of the preparation and application processes it has carried out in line with its sustainable quality and qualification criteria targets.

Registration, admission, examination and evaluation procedures of students are carried out in accordance with the Higher Education Law and the decisions and regulations of the Council of Higher Education issued on the basis of this law. At Hitit University, registration and admission procedures are carried out by the Student Affairs Department, and information on regulations and directives can be found at http://oidb.hitit.edu.tr/. A two-stage examination system is applied in the transition from high school education to higher education. The exams are conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Detailed information about the exams can be found at http:www.osym.gov.tr. The first stage of the examination system is a single and common examination called the Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS). The Higher Education Transition Examination is an exam that measures the qualification for transition to higher education for those who have successfully completed high school education and want to study higher education. Regulations, directives and senate decisions regarding international (foreign nationals), horizontal transfer and student admission are applied in the admission of students other than the student groups coming with central placement. Graduates who have successfully completed their associate degree education can transfer to undergraduate programmes such as Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Special Education Teaching, Health Management and Social Work if they get enough points from the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Graduates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education have the right to apply to second and third level (master's and doctorate) programmes, provided that they meet the requirements of national and international higher education institutions. Graduates of the department; health personnel can be employed in hospitals, physical therapy and rehabilitation units, public and private disabled care and rehabilitation centres affiliated to the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, nursing homes, medical centres and polyclinics providing basic health services, infirmaries of various institutions and homes of disabled individuals.
