- Bireylerin günlük yaşam, kendine bakım, iş ve serbest zaman aktivitelerine sağlıklı bir şekilde katılımlarını gerçekleştirmeye yönelik çalışır, bu aktivitelere yönelik performans değerlendirmelerini yapar.
- Aktivitelere katılımı engelleyen etkenleri tespit ederek önleyici rehabilitasyon yöntemlerini bireyi merkeze alarak uygular.
- Ergoterapi alanı ile ilgili olan psikosyal, kognitif, fizyolojik ve biyoteknolojik bilgilerin analizini yaparak bireylerin aktivitelere katılımını artırıcı mekanizmalar üretir.
- Bireylerin toplumsal rollerini yerine getirebilmelerine yönelik sağlık ihtiyaçlarını belirler ve uygun ergoterapi modeli ile gerekli müdahaleyi yapar.
- Birey-toplum ilişkisinin güçlendirilmesine yönelik olarak gerekli ev, iş ve çevre modifikasyonlarını geliştirir.
