To have knowledge and consciousness about basic problems of philosophy. To have basic knowledge and awareness about a variety of cultural fields; to have develop the ability to philosophically evaluate and express different fields of human activities. To be able to apply the knowledge acquired in philosophy to contemporary problems. To acquire aesthetic, political and morality sensitivity. To be able to abstract logical arguments, criticize them and to detect inconsistencies in a text. To be able to follow a talk or a text in which a complex issue is discussed.

For students to be in good academic standing and continue regular registration each semester at least 70% of class attendance is compulsory, and each student should enroll for classes at beginning of the semester. For all courses the department teaches, students will have a mid-term exam and a final exam each semester. The mid-term exam has a weight of 40% and the final exam has a weight of 60% to the final grade. All exams are graded on a 100 pts. basis. To get a passing grade, students have to get 35 pts. from the mid-term exam. AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC letter grades indicate passing grades. DC and DD letter grades are conditional passing grades: insofar as one?s Cumulative Grade Point Average passes 2.00 she/he is accepted as passing from these conditionally graded courses. Otherwise, in the case that her CGPA falls below 2.00, she will be accepted failed from these courses. In order to be able to successfully complete the program, students have to pass all curricular courses (equivalent to 240 ECTS), have 2.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average out of a possible 4.00, and write and defend a graduation thesis.

Students must comply with the legal and academic requirements to attend our department according to the selection processes established by the ÖSYM (Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Centre) regulations. Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for the recognition of their respective diplomas. The recognition of previous diplomas is done separately for each student and the procedure must be fulfilled out by YÖK (Board of Higher Education) accordingly before the start of each academic year. Those who finish the program can take jobs at various official establishments (like ministy of education, health, law, social services), at private education establishments, at psychotechnical centers, at some industrial establishments, etc. Those who get formation certificate can be instructor at official or private education establishments. Those who want to pursue an academic career can make graduate and Phd (doctoral) study at some university.
