It is a higher education program that spans eight semesters based on secondary education qualifications and provides education focused on a specific field of study or profession.

The department aims particularly to equip students with the up-to-date knowledge and practical skills required for secondary school science teachers. An important objective of the department is to provide its graduates with relevant contemporary information, training, and prerequisite skills to enable them to guide their students to cope with the challenges of the 21st centry.

Education and training are conducted in formal, open, or distance learning formats.

In science education program courses, lessons based on the program are held weekly, and the teaching process is carried out by using the equipment and methods-techniques necessary to create a suitable learning environment. Different content tools and methods are used for each course, considering that the evaluation process is appropriate throughout and throughout the process. However, each subject may differ from each other in terms of evaluation type and rate (midterm exam, given, performance and laboratory application, final). In the Science Laboratory, the applications of relevant undergraduate courses rather than graduate courses are actively carried out, and there are information boards regarding safety measures in the laboratory. In addition, in the laboratory, transportation routes for disabled people during school holidays, classroom classrooms and space arrangements were made.

• Plans, conduct and evaluates a course with the knowledge and skills acquired in the program.
• Selects and applies appropriate teaching methods based on the achievements in the curriculum according to the characteristics of the subjects in Science Teaching.
• Designs and develops teaching materials according to the subjects to be covered in science teaching and the needs of the students.
• Evaluates student achievements in multiple ways using different methods.
• Has knowledge about the learning characteristics and difficulties related to science and technology depending on the developmental levels of students.
• Knows different teaching methods in line with the developmental characteristics of students.
• Produces ideas, makes projects, develops solutions in areas and problem situations related to science education and supports them with qualitative and quantitative data.

The evaluation and evaluation of courses with the same codes belonging to departments are done jointly. Final exams are announced two weeks before the exam period; The announced day and time are held in accordance with Bülent Ecevit University Examination Regulations. The success grade consists of the contribution of the semester grades for that course and the final grade in certain proportions. The contribution of mid-term evaluations to the success grade cannot be less than 40% or more than 60%. Those with an absolute score below 40% are considered unsuccessful. The success level of the class, the current status of the grades and how the grades were written off were determined by the Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Relative Evaluation Directive.

The success status in a course is determined by evaluating the student's midterm exams, homework, applications and project work during the semester together with the final exam success grade. The success level of the class, the statistical distribution of grades and the class average are taken into consideration in the evaluation to be made. The student's course success grade is evaluated at the end of this evaluation, which is called relative evaluation. Students whose general exam grade and/or raw success grade calculated from the term success and final exam grades is below 35% receive an FF grade regardless of their relative grades. Students whose raw success grade calculated from the term success and final exam grades is above 65% and whose relative grade is DC or below receive an AA grade regardless of their relative grades, and students whose relative grade is above 95% and whose relative grade is below AA receive an AA grade regardless of their relative grades. The effect of the final exam on the course success grade can be 40%, 50% or 60%. The effect of the final exam on the course success grade is 60% in common compulsory courses. The impact of mid-term success and the final exam on the course success grade is determined by the opinion of the instructor responsible for the course and the decision of the relevant board of directors and is announced to the students.

To Ensure the Quality of Higher Education Programs:

• YÖK (Council of Higher Education) is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and supervising education, training, and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.
• Within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK, “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” are prepared annually for higher education institutions. Based on these reports, quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions are compiled and shared with the public by YÖK.
• Every year, YÖK publishes the “Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report”, which includes academic, administrative, and financial data related to foundation higher education institutions. These reports, containing quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are also shared with the public by YÖK.

The quality assurance of undergraduate programs is ensured in accordance with the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring the Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Development and Approval of Academic Programs

1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the establishment of undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curricula of undergraduate programs and the learning outcomes that each program is expected to provide to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in compliance with the fundamental principles set by YÖK.

1.3. The curriculum of National Core Education Programs is implemented by higher education institutions after being approved by YÖK, following its acceptance by the relevant Deans' Council.

2. Assessment and Evaluation

The methods for assessing and evaluating the learning outcomes that each undergraduate program is expected to provide are carried out according to the Education and Examination Regulations prepared by higher education institutions, in line with the fundamental principles set by YÖK.

3. Certification

Students enrolled in undergraduate programs receive a bachelor’s degree upon successfully completing the course credits and other requirements determined by higher education institutions.

4. Self-Assessment and External Evaluation

Higher education institutions, as part of continuous monitoring, enter their "Institutional Self-Evaluation Reports" for the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report", which includes the external evaluation of higher education institutions, with the public. Additionally, accreditation decisions made by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK serve as evidence that programs meet the quality assurance standards. In accordance with YÖKAK regulations, regular review activities are conducted to assess compliance with established qualifications.

Science Education Program was accredited by the Teacher Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (EPDAD) between 01.05.2024 and 01.05.2026.

REGISTRATION ADMISSION CONDITIONS FOR TURKISH STUDENTS

Within the framework of the regulations determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), student admission to this program is made through the central exam system called YKS. After students declare their program preferences, they are placed in the relevant programs by the Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) according to the score they receive from this exam.

FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

Foreign students are accepted to this program with a valid score within the framework of international agreements and internationally valid exam results or ÖSYM TR-YÖS exam results within the framework of the relevant guidelines.

FOR EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

The admission of exchange students is made within the framework of bilateral agreements (Erasmus, Farabi, Mevlana or General Academic Protocol) signed between the university and the partner university.

FOR SPECIAL STUDENTS

Special students can register for the courses offered in this program if the relevant academic unit approves.

Individuals who hold a bachelor's degree can pursue master's programs and, if they meet the relevant requirements, they may also continue to doctoral and proficiency in art programs that accept students with a bachelor's degree.

Undergraduate students have the right to participate in double major programs offered by their higher education institutions. Students enrolled in double major programs can take courses from two degree programs simultaneously and, if successful, receive two separate bachelor's degrees.

Graduates of the Science Teaching program can teach at the Ministry of National Education and its affiliated private schools and private teaching institutions; They can work as experts or educational technologists in institutions such as the Ministry of National Education and its affiliated private schools and private teaching institutions, or they can also work as civil servants in different institutions of the state. They can also work in the private sector in fields related to instructional technologies.
