• The primary aim of the Science Teacher Education program is to train teachers who develop positive attitudes towards teaching and have professional skills in their field. Students graduating from this program are expected to exhibit a correct model for their students in terms of personal and professional life, to follow innovations in their field for their professional development and to have effective communication skills. In addition, this program aims to train teachers who have a lifelong learning approach, are confident in the use of technology, have problem solving skills, value human rights, democracy and ethics, research and question.

• Students understand relations among Physical, Chemical, Biological and Mathematical concepts.
• Students have knowledge of the nature, sources and boundaries science and technology.
• Students analyze the events related to their field of study by using scientific methods and techniques.
• Students evaluate the knowledge gained in science and science education with a critical approach, identify the needs in this area, try to maintain their education life-long and use technology effectively to follow up the developments and get up-to-date information.
• Students plan, carry out and evaluate a lesson with the knowledge and skills they have taken in the science program.
• Students choose appropriate teaching methods based on the objectives of the curriculum according to the characteristics of the subjects in science teaching and apply them.
• Students design and develop teaching materials according to the needs of the students and the subjects to be taught in science teaching.
• Students evaluate students' achievements by using multiple different methods.
• Students have knowledge about the characteristics and difficulties of learning about science and technology depending on the level of development of the students.
• Teachers choose and apply different teaching methods in accordance with the developmental characteristics of the students.
• Students generate ideas and develop projects, solutions and support qualitative and quantitative benefits in areas of science education and in other problem situations.
• Students communicate verbally and in writing, use information and communication technologies using at least one foreign language, follow developments in this area and develop communication skills with their colleagues.

• Students recognize the Turkish National Education System, teaching profession and educational sciences in all its aspects.
• Students know the teacher's guidance duties and learn ways to recognize students.

• Prepares plans for science lessons, selects and applies appropriate tools and materials.
• Selects, designs and conducts experiments appropriate to the subject, analyzes the data, interprets the data and makes a scientific report.
• Have knowledge about laboratory safety, chemicals and danger signs.
• To be able to use a foreign language at least at the level of European Language Portfolio B1 to follow the information in the field and communicate with colleagues.
• Uses information and communication technologies at the advanced level of the European Computer Driving License.

• In order for teacher candidates studying in the program to meet graduation requirements, they must successfully pass the compulsory courses specified in the education catalogue and the minimum number of elective courses that must be taken, receive at least 240 ECTS and have a 2.00/4 GPA. Students' success is evaluated with "midterm exams" and "final exams". Depending on the content of the course, different evaluation methods such as "homework, project, application" can be used instead of "midterm exam" evaluation.

To oversee the quality of higher education programs;

- YÖK is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and supervising education and training and other activities in higher education institutions.

- "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions prepared within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK are published every year. The reports prepared according to these reports, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

- "Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report" containing academic, administrative and financial data of foundation higher education institutions is published annually by CoHE. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK. Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is ensured according to the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula: YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.1. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to the student are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

1.2. The curricula of the National Core Curricula are adopted by the relevant Council of Deans and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

2. Assessment and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate program is carried out according to the teaching and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs, if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions; receive a bachelor's diploma.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: Higher education institutions, in the context of continuous monitoring, enter the "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programs is ensured. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

• Students who have completed their secondary education in Turkey or abroad are eligible to study in the program provided that they meet the following conditions.
• Turkish students are accepted from SAY score type according to the results of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). For more information: https://www.osym.gov.tr/
• Foreign students are admitted to the program as a result of the evaluation of their direct applications to the university.

Students who successfully complete the undergraduate program can continue their graduate education in the field of Science Education if they meet the other requirements specified in the graduate education and training regulations of universities (ALES, foreign language exam, etc.).

Our graduates can work as Science Teachers in secondary schools or private education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education with the title of “Science Teacher”. They can also work as academicians in public or private universities by continuing their graduate education.
