• Analyzes, and produces verbal or written texts by using the acquired advanced knowledge and skills peculiar to English Language and Literature and interprets and didactically embodies the written or verbal texts produced before using the comparison method.
• Translates equally from English to Turkish and Turkish to English with a grammar knowledge so good as to be able to translate and a language awareness.
• Acquires basic knowledge and skills required to enable inter-cultural communication.
• Comprehends the structural and functional features of languages via linguistics and establishes a healthy communication.
• Learns analytical thinking and to ground thoughts with hermeneutics and interpretation techniques.Makes self-evaluation and develops self-confidence.
• Acquires basic professional knowledge related to learning field.Develops native thoughts and works inter-disciplinary with a critical perspective.
• Comprehends that learning process is a life-long awakening process and researches the subject on his/her own.
• Organizes activities for social responsibility awareness and the social environment he/she lives in and applies these.

• Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, graduation projects and other studies of the semester she/he is enrolled for.
• For each course, one midterm and final exams are conducted by the instructors teaching the courses.
• If a student does not take midterm exam, she/he takes FF.
• If a student does not fulfill the attendance obligation or she/he fails the application, she/he takes FE.
• The contribution of midterm on grade is 40 %, final exams is 60 %. While students that take AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are successful, those took K, ED, EE, FE and FF are unsuccessful.
• Locations and dates of midterm and final exams will be announced fifteen days before by relevant unit.
• Students who have not attended at least 70 % of theoretical courses and 80 % of applied studies are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses.
• A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within make-up exams week after the final examinations are over.
• To achieve a bachelor degree in the field of English Langugae and Literature, students must complete all the lessons of the program (240 ECTS ) with success.
• The general weighted score average of the student must be at least 2.00.

The admission and all other student tasks are handled by the Higher Education Council Law (#2547), and the regulations released by the Higher Education Council based on this law. Students enrolled in the English Language and Literature undergraduate program continue their education based on rules written in the Gaziosmanpaşa Universitys Undergraduate Education Regulations. Admission at Gaziosmanpaşa University is handled by the Registers Office, and its web site can be accesses through http://www.gop.edu.tr or http://www.egitim.gop.edu.tr There is an exam system for transition from high school to the university. The exam system is handled by Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Detailed information can be obtained through http://www.osym.gov.tr. The first stage of the exam system is called as YGS and it is a common and one-session exam. A minimum of 180 points is required to take the next exam, which is LYS. Those students who can acquire the minimum score from DİL-1 can be placed in the English Language and Literature department. The capacity of the department is 40, and the duration of the program is 4 years. All tasks related to placement are handled through ÖSYM. ÖSYM publishes a guide in July, which outlines the details of the placement. Candidates make their choices related to programs in a time frame and placed into the programs. English Language and Literature graduates find employment opportunities in these fields: several public institutions (Turkish radio and television corporation ,the ministry of foreign affairs, ministry of culture and tourism, ministry of national education etc..) publishing houses, tabloid magazines, literature and culture magazines, newspapers, movie studios ,international institutions, projects and institutions related with European Communities. By developing translation ss, graduates can work as an oral or document translator in some fields which have a special terminology such as medicine, architecture, economy, automotive, archeology, and law. They can also work in tourism sector. By maintaining pedagogical formation they can work as teacher in public and private schools. English language and Literature graduates can continue their work field by continuing their career on academic area (at a level of postgraduate and doctorate) under the umbrella of university.
