• To have advanced knowledge and comprehension on the conservation of historical structures and sites which are two different aspects of cultural heritage.
• To have advanced knowledge and comprehension about topics related to restoration theories, international contemporary conservation principles, national and international legal and organizational regulations and documentation of cultural heritage, all of which are the fundamentals of conservation.
• To teach the students the skills to apply the ornamentation techniques and conserve the ornamentations in Traditional Turkish Architecture and Hand-Crafts in order to create consciousness for preservation and conservation of historical environments.
• To gain the skills to draw, design, apply, and conserve projects of Architectural Survey, Restitution, and Restoration.
• To bring up individuals with good morals who are able to organize and act well in working environments to cope with any problems that may rise there.
• To sample and apply the traditional building techniques and applications under recent conditions according to the studies to conserve cultural heritage and historical environments.
• To gain the technical skills to do architectural drawings for the conservation of cultural heritage and to comprehend 2D and 3D drawing.
• To get informed and acquire critical insight in order to benefit from national and international examples of conservation of ever-destroyed historical sites, to do analytical surveys and typological studies, and to evaluate the data acquired from such studies.
• To have advanced knowledge and comprehension on subjects such as the restoration and conservation of archaeological findings and traditional structure types and elements, documentation, and survey analysis.
• To apply and integrate the knowledge, conception and problem solving abilities gained about monument and site conservation with the knowledge in related areas and to apply them in multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts.
• To gain verbal and written skills needed to express oneself; prepare job applications, business letters, technical reports, and etc., in a foreign language.
• To gain skills to conduct, present and discuss a unique scientific study dialectically.
• To acquire technical knowledge and skills about technological equipment, methods, and chemicals used in survey and restoration applications.
• To get informed about social responsibility, ethical values and social security rights in his work and related areas.
• To get informed about work safety, worker health and environmental preservation about his work and related areas.
• To introduce the students who will be employed as “Conservator-Restorator” in private or government institutions after their graduation, theoretically with the movable-unmovable cultural heritage, examples of which they will craft, along with their distinctive characteristics such as period, society, material, technology, function, aesthetics and style.

A student has to register at the beginning of the semester and has to attend at least 70% of the theoretical lessons and 80% of the practices in order to be able to enter the final exam of that particular course. The students are given at least one mid-term exam and one final exam. Mid-term exam (the grades given by assignments, lab exams and quizzes may also be added to mid-term grade) consists 40% of the pass mark and final exam consists the other 60%. All the exams are evaluated out of 100. A student who has acquired AA, BA, BB, CB or CC as the pass mark from any course is considered as successful for that particular lesson. DC and DD are conditional successful grades. A student has to obtain 2.0 GPA (General Point Average) in order to be considered as successful for a course which they have received DC or DD as pass mark. •In order to be able to receive an Associate Degree in Architectural Restoration Program, it is required to successfully complete all the compulsory and elective courses a student should have (a total of 120 ACTS) and to have at least 2.00 GPA (grade point average) over 4.00 •Students who complete the program successfully trainings courses they had taken during the search needs of public and private sector employees will have the qualifications to fill the gap.

The applicant should have a high school or its equivalent diploma and the other requirements are determined by OSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center ) in accordance with the applicable legislation of YOK (Higher Education Council)ASU undergraduate associate degree programs accept students within the provisions of the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) and within the framework of the Higher Education Act Law No.2547 and those who want to enroll in these programs should not have an existing enrollment in another higher education program. Open Admission: Students who graduate from vocational and technical high schools may choose to enroll in an associate degree program as a continuation of the program they have completed, or a similar one, found in their own Professional and Technical Education Regions (PTER). Later, the student may enroll in a vocational school associate programs out of their region on an open admission basis. Open admission placement operations are conducted via the SSPC central system.

Program completers of the Graduate Program in Architectural Restoration will be employed in laboratories, sites and offices of public (Ministry of Culture and Tourism Restoration and Conservation Central Laboratory, Directorate of Architectural Survey and Monuments, General Directorate of Foundations…) and private organizations engaged in restoration activities, museums and palaces which belong to the Directorate of National Palaces, archaeological excavation teams and construction sites, as technical staff to architects.
