The Department of Early Childhood Education follows a four-year national curriculum in line with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework. The language of instruction is Turkish, and the education period is 4 years. In addition to core courses related to the development and education of children aged 0-6, the program offers professional (teacher education) and general education courses. Students can also choose elective courses from the department of basic education and other departments of the university for their academic and professional benefit.

The aim of the program is to train preschool teachers who are aware of the requirements of the education system, have extensive knowledge in their field, are familiar with contemporary methods and practices in field education, and follow innovations. The program also aims to provide teacher candidates with an educational process in which they will adopt continuous professional development as a principle.

Education is conducted in the form of formal instruction. In addition, practical training is provided through internships in workshops within the higher education institution and in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.

1. Understands the concepts related to the field and the relationships between these concepts.

2. Possesses knowledge about the nature, source, limits, accuracy, reliability, and validity of knowledge.

The success status in a course is determined by evaluating the student's midterm exams, homework, applications and project work during the semester together with the final exam success grade. The success level of the class, the statistical distribution of grades and the class average are taken into consideration in the evaluation to be made. The student's course success grade is evaluated at the end of this evaluation, which is called relative evaluation. Students whose general exam grade and/or raw success grade calculated from the term success and final exam grades is below 35% receive an FF grade regardless of their relative grades. Students whose raw success grade calculated from the term success and final exam grades is above 65% and whose relative grade is DC or below receive an AA grade regardless of their relative grades, and students whose relative grade is above 95% and whose relative grade is below AA receive an AA grade regardless of their relative grades. The effect of the final exam on the course success grade can be 40%, 50% or 60%. The effect of the final exam on the course success grade is 60% in common compulsory courses. The impact of mid-term success and final exams on course success grades is determined by the opinion of the instructor responsible for the course and the decision of the relevant board of directors and announced to the students.

Grades The course success level, success grade, coefficient and point equivalent are given below:

a) A student who receives one of the grades AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a course is considered to have passed that course.

b) DC and DD grades received from a course indicate that the course has been conditionally passed.

c) A student who receives one of the grades DZ, GR, FD, FF and YZ from a course is considered to have failed that course and must take it in the first semester the course is offered.

d) Students who do not meet the attendance requirement during the semester are given a DZ grade. These students are not admitted to the general exam.

e) A student who does not take the general exam, although entitled to take it, is given a GR grade regardless of their work during the semester.

f) DZ and GR grades are treated as FF and are included in the weighted general grade point average.

g) YT grade is given as the success grade for non-credit courses.

h) YZ grade is given as the failure grade for non-credit courses.

i) MU grade is given to students who are successful in courses for which an exemption exam is applied.

j) MZ grade is given to students who cannot take the general exam due to an excuse deemed valid by the relevant board of directors.

Regarding the academic average;

(1) Students' success status is determined by calculating their semester academic average and general academic average. The product of the credit of a course and the coefficient of the grade received from that course gives the weighted score of that course.

(2) The semester academic average is found by dividing the total of the weighted scores of all courses taken by the student in that semester by the total credits of the courses taken. The make-up exam grade taken by the student due to an excuse is included in the semester average of the exam.

(3) The general academic average is found by dividing the total of the weighted scores calculated based on the student's final grades from all courses taken in his/her program during his/her education by the total credits of the courses taken.

(4) In calculating the academic average, the division process is carried out with two digits after the comma. Minor courses and courses in which YT, YZ, MU and MZ grades are received despite being included in the curriculum are not taken into account in the calculation of the academic average. The Senate determines how double major courses will be taken into account in the calculation of the academic average. The grade (MZ) of the courses for which the student did not take the general exam due to an excuse is taken into account in the calculation of the academic average of the semester in which the general exam of that course/courses is taken after the end of the excuse. In the event that the student repeats a course, the last grade he/she received from that course is included in his/her academic average.

(5) Students who are successful in all courses but whose general academic average is below 2.00 and therefore do not graduate may retake courses in which they received DC and DD grades in order to increase their academic average. If the general academic average of the courses they repeat is 2.00 or higher, the student graduates.

To monitor the quality of higher education programs;

• YÖK is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and supervising the education and training and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

• “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” of higher education institutions prepared within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK are published every year. The reports prepared according to these reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

• YÖK publishes the “Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report” containing academic, administrative and financial data of foundation higher education institutions every year. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK. Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is provided according to the “Procedures and Principles for Providing Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs”:

1. Creation and Approval of Curriculum:

1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for opening undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

1.3. The curriculum of the National Core Curriculum is approved by the relevant Deans' Council and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of YÖK.

2. Measurement-Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes that each undergraduate program will provide to the student is carried out in accordance with the education, training and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

3. Documentation: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs receive a bachelor's degree if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: In the context of continuous monitoring, higher education institutions enter the "Internal Institutional Evaluation Reports" of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions made by accreditation institutions authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also show that the quality assurance of the program qualifications is provided. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

The program is accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs (EPDAD).

Accreditation Period: Start Date: 01.05.2025, End Date: 01.05.2028

To be admitted to this program, Turkish citizens and international students must obtain a sufficient score from the exams determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), such as the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS). International applicants must also meet the criteria set by the university and provide relevant equivalency documents. The placement of Turkish students is carried out by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center).

1. Graduates with a bachelor's degree may pursue master's programs and, if they meet the relevant requirements, doctorate and proficiency in art programs accepted with a bachelor's degree.
2. Undergraduate students have the right to enroll in double major programs offered by higher education institutions. Students enrolled in these programs can take courses from both degree programs simultaneously and receive two separate bachelor's diplomas upon successful completion.
