• Selects evidence-based applications for special education applications.
• It reflects the developmental characteristics of students with special needs, the individual differences, and the programa to improve their achievement levels.
• Provides solutions to the problems that may be encountered during the education and training applications related to the special education field.
• To access new information in Special Education field, to organize information in a systematic manner and to be able to produce new information.
• To be able to make informed contribution by doing original research to solve a problem in Special Education.
• Developing new ideas, methods and models related to the field using high level mental processes such as creative and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
• Establishing functional communication with related persons and institutions by using strategic decision-making processes in solving problems related to special education field.

(1) A student has to attend at least 70 percent of the courses he has enrolled. (2) In one semester, there must at least be two measurements of success.One of these must be a written exam by all means at the discretion of relevant faculty member. In case of written examination, the other assessment could be an assignment, project, laboratory report or similar kinds of assessment. (3) At the end of the semester, a final exam that includes entire course is administered. Achievement grade is calculated taking the work during the semester with a percentage between 40 and 60 and the final exam with a percentage between 60 and 40 into consideration. In case of failure, except for F0, resit exam is granted to the student. (4) Achievement grades are defined as follows: a) Percentage Points Achievement Grade Coefficient 90-100 AA 4.00 80-89 BA 3.50 70-79 BB 3.00 60-69 CB 2.50 50-59 CC 2.00 40-49 DC 1.50 30-39 DD 1.00 20-29 FD 0.50 0-19 FF 0.00 NA F0 0.00 b) Grades not included in the Average Scores: 1) G: Pass/Successful, 2) K: Fail/Unsuccessful, 3) M: Exemption, 4) E: Incomplete (5) Minimum achievement grade to be successful in a course is BB (3.00). (6) A student can only be successful in all courses if he has scored a minimum GPA of 3.00. (7)The student who has scored CB, CC, DC, DD, FD, FF and F0 are considered to have failed the course. These grades are included in his CGPA (AGNO). (8)G (Pass/Successful) grade indicates that the student has been successful / satisfactory in a course or activity. K(Fail/Unsuccessful) grade indicates that the student has been unsuccessful / unsatisfactory in a course or activity. M (Exemption) grade indicates that the student have exemption for the previous program courses which are deemed equivalent to the courses offered in the program. Decision for the course exemption is made by the relevant faculty committee. G, K and M grades aren’t included in the CGPA (AGNO). E(Incomplete) grade indicates that the faculty member who carries out the course hasn’t entered the grade into the automation system. These grades are entered into the system by the decision of the execute board of the Graduate School. The programme consists of a minimum of seven courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields, one seminar course, and thesis, with a minimum of 21 local credits. The seminar course and thesis are non-credit and graded on a pass/fail basis. The duration of the programme is four semesters. The maximum period to complete course work in a masters program with thesis is 4 semesters. However, with the approval of their advisors, students can in subsequent semesters take additional departmental courses with or without credits. The total ECTS credits of the programme is 90 ECTS. A student may take undergraduate courses on the condition that the courses have not been taken during the undergraduate program. However, at most two of these courses may be counted to the Masters course load and credits. Students must register for thesis work and the Specialization Field course offered by his supervisor every semester following the semester, in which the supervisor is appointed. A student who has completed work on the thesis within the time period, must write a thesis, using the data collected, according to the specifications of the Graduate School Thesis Writing Guide. The thesis must be defended in front of a jury. The Masters thesis jury is appointed on the recommendations of the relevant Department Chairperson and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. The jury is composed of the thesis supervisor and 3 to 5 faculty members. Of the appointed jury members, up to one may be selected from another Department or another University. In case the jury consists of 3 members, the co-supervisor cannot be the jury member. A majority vote by the jury members determines the outcome of the thesis or examination. The vote can be for acceptance , rejection or correction . The Department Chairperson will inform the Director of the Graduate School, in writing, of the jurys decision within 3 days. To correct or change a thesis found incomplete and/or inadequate by the jury, the jury must specify in its report that such corrections are necessary. A student may be given, by a decision of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School, up to three months to complete the corrections. The student must then retake the thesis examination.

The general achievement score for all candidates who apply to this programs is calculated by the candidate assessment judges by taking the %50 of ALES the %25 of the CGPA of undergraduate program and the %25 of the entrance exam into account. Candidates are put in an order of achievement and accepted within the limits of the contingency.

After graduation, individuals can work as teachers or administrators based on their expertise. Individuals can also continue their academic career.
