• The objective of the undergraduate program of social work is to educate professionals who are able to comprehend behavioral sciences, social work methods, and social work practice with professional ethics, to be successful in academic work in national and international areas, to be able to provide social service through internalizing required knowledge on social work.
• These professionals, being social workers who have effective communication skills and leadership character, will work in rural and urban areas, public and private sectors, universities and in non-governmental organizations as promoter, project planner, and practitioner.

There are two types of regulations (Regulation 1-Y1; Regulation 2-Y2): for students who enrolled in 2009 or before and for students who enrolled in 2010 or after. To complete the available courses in the program (a total of 240 ECTS credits) successfully, all of students who enrolled in 2009 or before have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and students who enrolled in 2010 or after are required to achieve 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided.

Students are admitted to the programme according to the TM-3 points determined by Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Centre about what programmes they want to study at, students are placed in the related programmes according to their scores. Foreign students are admitted to the related programmes according to the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programmes with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines). The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programmes are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Maltepe University and the partner universities. Guest students may enrol to the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.

Universities, secondary education schools, nursery schools, orphanages, children’s clubs, centers for street children, day care centers, family counseling centers, women’s shelters, family courts, and judiciary, juvenile courts, security units for children, hospitals, health care centers, rest homes, special education and rehabilitation centers, syndicates, society centers, State Planning Organization, Ministry of Family and Social Policies, local administrations, foundations and non-governmental organizations are some of the organizations that graduates of social work department will work for.

Qualification is continuous
