Upon completing the requirements of the doctorate degree program, the graduates will be able to; Expand, deepen and make original description of the concepts and principles in Economics.Make use of the Economic Theory to make analysis, synthesis and evaluations regarding the economic problems of agricultural sector, taking into consideration the characteristics of the agricultural products.Put into practice, in a systematic way, the theoretical and practical high level knowledge acquired during the graduate program in the area of agricultural economics.Produce new knowledge by integrating the information in the area of Agricultural Economics with the information in other disciplines.Make use of high level research methods in the studies in the area of Agricultural Economics. Independently conduct a research that will bring about an innovative opinion, method or practice in the area of Agricultural Economics as well as other fields.Take reponsibility as a group leader in solving an economic problem in Agriculture while working together with other disiplines.Contribute to expanding the boundries of knowlege by independently conducting a study and publishing the results in an acredited national or international peer reviewed journal.Produce new knowledge or methods by making use of high level cognitive processes such as critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.Defend an original thesis and establish a diolog that will show his or her competency on the subject.Examine the social norms with a critical approach, make geniune proposals to change or improve them.Use a freign language at C1 general level in European Language Portfolio, to follow the developments in the field and communicate and discuss with collegues in written, verbal or visiual ways.Make contributions to the community to acquire and maintain functional knowlege by extending information and scientific developments in the area of Agricultural Economics.Contribute to solving the social, scientific and ethical problems that may be related to Agricultural Economics.

1. to have a diploma from a 5 year undergraduate program or Master’s Degree in the fields of study determined by the Graduate School of Science, 2. to have a score of minimum 55 from ALES (academic test for graduate studies) exam, 3. to have a score of minimum 55 from UDS (Interuniversity Board Foreign Language Examination) or KPDS (Test of Foreign Language for Public Servants) exams or equivalent score from TOEFL or similar exams, 4. to have a minimum score of 65 when 60% of ALES score, 20% of undergraduate GPA (Grand Point Average) and 20% of Master’ degree GPA are combined, 5. to be in the list of eligible candidates (starting from the highest total score) in accordance with the number of available positions, 6. to complete the requirements of the preparation class in one year if admitted on probation, 7. to have a minimum score of B2 (70 out of 100) in Turkish Language Exam (for foreign students) in accordance with the European Language Portfolio, 8. students from the Departments of Agricultural Economics in other Universities with similar programs can also be accepted as tranfer students. 9. student application and acceptance requirements are posted on the website of the Graduate School of Science (www.fbe.atauni.edu.tr) before each academic term starts.

Those who graduated from Agricultural Economics Ph.D. program primarily become an academician and work in the universities. The other graduates work as advanced skilled technical staff, expert and manager in related sectors.
