1. To acquire extensive theoretical and applied knowledge about the field of art and design.
2. To conduct academic research on the terms, notions, cases and issues related to the field; to identify, comprehend, design and apply them through proper/correct methods and techniques.
3. To transform the field knowledge into creative thinking skills.
4. To be able to plan and carry out projects, related to the field, in conceptual and production process both as an individual and as a member of a group. To evaluate and share the results with society.
5. To specify the field competencies and to develop a lifelong social responsibility and critical thinking ability.
6. To be able to use information technologies in the field effectively at the European Computer Driving Licence Advanced Level.
7. To have a good command of a foreign language at European Language Portfolio B1 Level and to be able to communicate with the colleagues and to follow the developments in the field.
8. To produce and carry out projects by using quantitative and qualitative data in the field and to share them with the professionals or non-professionals.
9. To be aware of national and international values in art and design and to acquire professional ethics.
10. To transform the abstract and concrete concepts into creative thoughts and authentic works.
11. To gain knowledge about culture and history of art and acquire an esthetical consciousness.
12. To acquire sufficient knowledge and develop an awareness of the universal justice, cultural, ethical and natural preservation, and occupational health and safety.

The Department of Fashion and Textile started education in 2007. The medium of teaching is Turkish. The aim of the program is to train designers who can make unique designs that suit aesthetic, functional and ethical values, who possess knowledge and skills to create fashion and brands, who follow technological developments, and who have qualities required by fashion industry. One of the main objectives of the department is to make students complete studies aimed at manufacturing until they graduate through projects determined within the scope of university-industry collaboration. Thus, it will be possible to train designers with the ability tocreate fashion and brands.

Fashion Design Program has been structured upon an approach towards establishing world brands with its practical and theoretical courses, atelier and workshops, computer-aided design courses, and project works involving all the stages from design to manufacture. The courses in the program of Fashion Design Department are classified under four main categories as main, complementary, vocational elective and elective. In practice-oriented courses starting in the second semester, students both have the opportunity to produce their own designs and improve themselves through studies for the sector. Moreover, as of the third academic year students transfer their designs into computer environment in the computer laboratory. Fashion Design enable students to specialize in the branches they choose via vocational elective courses determined and updated according to lines of work. There are basic design, drawing, sewing techniques, mould, theoretical and practical courses with artistic and experimental content and projects within the scope of the program. The factors to be considered in collections that will be prepared for a particular purpose and in projects carried out in line with the requirements of the sector will be transferred to the student.

Our department possesses design studios, computer labs and manufacture workshop equipped with technological devices.

It is necessary

- To be a high school graduate

- To receive a valid score from University Entrance Exam both YGS and LYS - TM-2

- Students are admitted through external transfer exam.

The graduates of the Department of Fashion and Textile Design bear the title “Fashion Designer”. As fashion designers, they can get employed in workshops or factories producing ready-made garments or orders, in design and movie studios, official and private institutions of performing arts, in the research and development departments of textile and ready-made garment industry, and in the relevant departments of official and private institutions that make design, or they can establish their own design studios and prepare collections for domestic and foreign markets.
