• Knows the basic structure, development and functional mechanisms of the body at molecular, cellular, organ and system levels.
• Defines the causes, formation mechanisms of the diseases and the changes in the affected organs.
• Takes a detailed medical history, performs physical examination and accurately interprets the findings.
• İmplements diagnostic procedures required for primary health care and makes the accurate diagnosis.
• Knows the epidemiogly of most frequently occuring diseases and applies preventive medicine.
• Makes clinical decisions by maintaining patient and health staff safety and using evidence-based medicine applications.
• Takes medical records in delivery of health services and uses the related information systems.
• Manages the correct and urgent treatment in case of life threatening conditions and coordinates referral or transport of the patient when necessary.
• Knows the financial regulations and legal obligations related to delivery of health services.
• Establishes correct and effective communication with all stakeholders of health care services.
• İmplements basic ethical principles in medical practice and research.
• Manages health care team in primary health care organization and collaborate.
• Uses Turkish language effectively, uses English at least at the level required to follow the international literature and communicate with colleagues.
• Follows the recent scientific and technological developments in medical practice.

The examinations of medical school include the committees, final and make-up exams. In first 3 phases, courses are formed by committees and students are assessed by an exam at the end of each committee. The committee grade is composed of theoretical and practical points. Practical exam points are determined as up to 25% of the total points of related course. The grade point average (GPA) for all phases are computed for each student at the end of each phase. GPA is the 50% of the average of committee scores and 50% of the final or make-up exam scores. In order to be successful GPA must be equal or higher than 60 points.If the average points of the committees are equal or greater than 80, the student may prefer not taking the final exam. In that case, the average point of the committees is accepted as GPA.The student should successfully complete the full (six-year) program with 360 ECTS credits.

For admission to the faculty of medicine, students should hold national high school degree or equivalent degree taken from foreign countries and approved by national authorities. Also, foreign candidates must acquire appropriate mark from relevant exams indicated in the legislation. Students should take adequate mark from numerical part (MF-3) of university entry exam (LYS). Graduates of the program may obtain workplacements as a physician or general practitioner in primary care institutions and they have the chance of continue their higher education on Doctorate Degree or Specialization in Medicine programs. They may also prefer to make academic career in in the university departments of related sciences.
