• Knows the normal structure and functions of body and organ systems at cellular, biochemical and molecular level.
• Describe the causes of diseases, their mechanisms and the changes in affected organs.
• Examines the patient, evaluates the differential diagnosis, and requests necessary tests, prescribes medication, plans the treatment.
• Interpret clinical, laboratory, radiological and pathological findings of the diseases.
• Chooses high efficiency methods based on scientific data in the treatment of diseases.
• Supports multidisciplinary studies. Effectively employs IT and information in medical care.
• Communicates effectively with the patient, family and necessary units in accordance with the medical necessities.
• Knows the provision, organization and financing of health services and the legal rules of medical practice.
• Knows epidemiology of common diseases and work to reduce this frequency.
• Explains and employs evidence based principles and steps in medicine.
• Implements preventive medicine services.

• Examinations, assessment and grading are held according to the regulations arranged by the University Senate.
• During the preclinical years (first three years), theoretical and practical examinations after each committee and final examination at the end of that academic year must be taken and passed in order to continue to the next term. In the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years, passing score of that year is calculated as taking the sum of the 60% of the average of the committee scores and 40% of the final examination.
• The student must have a score of 60 out of 100 in order to pass that year.
• Each internship at any of the clinical departments during the fourth and fifth years is accepted as one course.
• Practical and theoretical examinations are held after each course.
• The passing score of that independant course is 60 out of 100.
• During the sixth year, score of each course is assessed as succesfull/unsuccesfull by evaluating the general medical accretion, ability to prepare and present a research project, task responsibility, communication skills, ability to prepare and follow the patient, psychosocial situation, ability to perform medical intervention and field working skills after the end of each internship of the relevant course.

High School Diploma and placement through a centralized national university placement examination arranged by OSYM (Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Center) are required to admit the Faculty of Medicine.

In order to complete the two-year obligatory work for the government, the graduates of Faculty of Medicine enter a kura organized by the Turkish Ministry of Health and are recruited in the public health units at the primary health care or in the emergency services of governmental hospitals. A Medical Residency Examination (TUS) is held twice a year and the graduates who are successful, are recruited in the research and education hospitals of the universities or the Turkish Ministry of Health.
