• Our programme consists of academicians who are experts in their fields and the necessary application studies are carried out together with the courses. The aim of the Department of Tourism Guidance is to train qualified tourist guides, labourers, middle and upper level management candidates for the tourism sector by providing a scientific and quality education and training. In line with this aim, it is aimed to train qualified tourist guides and management candidates who have a good command of foreign languages, who know Turkey's history, culture and geography in the best way, who can establish good human relations, who can think analytically, who have problem solving, management and organisation knowledge and skills, who have basic social values such as tolerance, courtesy, respect, honesty, who have leadership and representation skills.

• The courses in the department curriculum are carried out in the faculty classrooms.

• Explains the basic characteristics of the tourism industry and the basic concepts related to the Tourism Guidance profession and associates them with the characteristics of tourism enterprises.
• Discusses the structure and functioning of the tourism industry and its importance in the development of the country and associates it with tourism enterprises.
• Explains and interprets the culture, history, religion, art, geography, life and thought styles of various civilisations that lived in Turkey.
• Plans a tour programme (plan) and discusses its functioning by considering the purpose, type and characteristics of the touristic region in line with the theoretical knowledge acquired in the Tourism Guidance profession.
• Emphasises the importance of professional development by following scientific and current developments in the fields of tourism, art and archaeology and shows advocacy attitude and behaviour towards the necessity of lifelong learning.

• Analyses numerical and statistical data and results of current practices in the field of tourism in accordance with ethical values.
• Knows and applies the legal regulations related to the field of tourism, tourist guide profession law and professional organisations.
• By assuming the leadership role in tour groups; manages the tour programme and solves possible problems that may arise during the tour.
• Turkey's natural and cultural assets, ancient cities, ruins and historical artefacts and regions of architecture, art, culinary culture, folklore, flora and fauna, etc. uses the skills of telling and presenting the features.
• Demonstrates effective written and oral communication and presentation skills and expresses professional knowledge accurately and effectively.
• Demonstrates reading, writing, comprehension, speaking and writing skills in English and a second foreign language (Arabic, Russian, Chinese).
• Uses the knowledge and competences related to the preparation, implementation and supervision of a tour.
• Organises projects, organisations and studies with sustainable social and social content specific to the field by using personality traits with social skills required by the Tourism Guidance profession.
• Demonstrates a sensitive attitude towards the negative effects of tourism on the physical and social environment and acts with the awareness of protecting tangible and intangible cultural assets.

- Although the measurement and evaluation method applied for each course is defined in detail in the "Course Introduction and Application Information", exams, measurement and evaluation and graduation conditions are basically regulated / carried out according to the procedures and principles specified in the Istanbul Gelisim University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations. In this direction, the exams that the programme students will / are likely to participate in are midterm exams, semester / year-end exams, make-up exams, single course exams and make-up exams.

- The grade scale is applied as specified in the IGU Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations. The student must have succeeded in all courses in the programme and must not have a grade of FF or D. In this programme, the student is required to provide a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and complete a compulsory summer internship of 60 working days.

- Measurement and evaluation is carried out according to the criteria under the title of Section Four of the IGU Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations:

ITEM 22 - (1) For each course taken by students, one of the following letter grades is assigned by the instructor as the final course grade;

b) Grades not included in the average are as follows:

1) G (Pass) grade is given to students who are successful in non-credit courses in the curriculum.

2) K (Fail) grade is given to students who fail the non-credit courses in the curriculum.

3) Grade D (Absent) is given to students who fail because they cannot fulfil their obligations regarding attendance or course practices. D grade is treated like FF grade in grade point average calculation.

To oversee the quality of higher education programs;

- YÖK is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and supervising education and training and other activities in higher education institutions.

- "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions prepared within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK are published every year. The reports prepared according to these reports, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

- "Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report" containing academic, administrative and financial data of foundation higher education institutions is published annually by CoHE. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK. Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is ensured according to the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula: YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.1. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to the student are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

1.2. The curricula of the National Core Curricula are adopted by the relevant Council of Deans and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

2. Assessment and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate program is carried out according to the teaching and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs, if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions; receive a bachelor's diploma.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: Higher education institutions, in the context of continuous monitoring, enter the "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programs is ensured. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

• In Turkey it is necessary that students to pass the YGS (Transition to Higher Education Examination) and LYS (Undergraduate Placement Examination). The only way to enter a program in University is through these tests’ scores. The students make choices in order of preference to be admitted to the programs they want to attend and send their preference form to ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). ÖSYM takes all the applications, lists the scores the students have received from highest to lowest and announces the current programs according to the scores placing the students in the programs they have preferred. The foreign students get placed in a University, allocated a certain number of quota students in our country, as per the scores they have received on the central exam named YÖS (University Entrance Examination for International Students). Documents required for the enrollment process are: •Diplomas of High Schools and their equivalents •The Document of Student Placement Exam results by ÖSYM.
