- To have the basic knowledge of the major actors of international relations and the rules of the functioning of the international system.
- To have the knowledge of the basic norms and processes of history, sociology, economy, law etc.
- To conduct research with an interdisciplinary perspective.
- To know a foreign language at a sufficient level to follow the developments in the area and to communicate with the colleagues.
- To be equipped with basic research methods and principles in social sciences at sufficient levels to make independent research.
- To be equipped with the theoretical knowledge of international relations and its sub-disciplines and to understand and explain the issues with a broad perspective
- To grasp and explain the relevant empirical developments with an analytical and critical perspective
- To have the necessary computer skills to conduct research in the area
- To know the issues of Turkish foreign policy very well and to bring explanations to relevant developments
- To follow, identify and analyze up-to-date developments in the area with a global and regional perspective
- To follow the ethical norms and principles in the studies conducted on the discipline
